OPZuid is intended for SMEs and partnerships in the South of the Netherlands (Noord-Brabant, Limburg and Zeeland) working on innovative solutions aligned with the regional innovation priorities (RIS3).
The current call focuses on defence and security, where innovation must contribute to the further development, demonstration, and commercialisation of promising technological military or dual-use innovations.
The grant covers 50% of eligible costs, up to a maximum of € 1.500.000. Applications are assessed through a tender procedure and ranked based on their contribution to the objectives of the scheme, level of innovation, overall quality, financial and economic prospects, and societal impact.
Eligible costs include, among others, internal labour hours, external hiring, material costs, and investments directly related to the innovation project.
OPZuid is part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and supports innovation projects in the South of the Netherlands. The current call focuses on defence and security, with an emphasis on high-tech developments relevant to defence. Particular attention is given to so-called dual-use technologies: innovations with both civil and defence applications, contributing to both strategic autonomy and regional economic development.
